To be more specific, I have always been required to use a specific IDE in every job. Ok so with that said, as I stated above, I have never worked at a job where we weren't required to use an IDE. Using and IDE will absolutely maximize your productivity. When your doing this for a job, you are expected to be as productive as possible. For instance, using the Spring Source Tool Suite literally gives you everything you need in a single package to write and test, and it is already configured. I don't think that anyone could argue that using an IDE can't make you more productive. I have never worked a job where we didn't have to use an IDE.
